The doll festival

Families with girls celebrate March 3rd as a day to wish for their growth and happiness.
I have a younger sister. We use to display beautiful dolls in acient court costumes called Hina dolls at home.
We offered diamond shaped rice cakes and alcohol free sweet sake to our Hina dolls.
(Hina means a small doll.)
One popular superstition says if the dolls aren't returned to their boxes soon after the 3rd of March, the daughters will not get married.
Ancient people made Hina dolls by themselves and transferred thier sickness or ill fortune onto the dolls and threw them in rivers.
菱餅もないけど…これで代用(^^;;
 I display? this picture instead of diamond shaped rice cakes as the doll festival.
No...Maybe not...it can't be...
